From the supplier: The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants has criticized the complexity and compliance burden of completing the 1993 Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) form. The AMT system is intended to be a tax system parallel to the income tax system, but the regulations being promulgated are not in the interest of tax simplification. Apparently all income tax adjustments are to be calculated for the AMT unless expressly not required. Calculations on the 1993 form require use of advanced algebra. The IRS has responded to these concerns by allowing taxpayers to base some AMT calculations on income tax return figures.
