From the supplier: IRS Revenue Procedure 94-69 sets forth what taxpayers involved in the Coordinated Examination Program (CEP) must do to avoid being subject to the IRS section 6662 accuracy-related penalties. The CEP taxpayer has 15 days from the date of written notice to provide the IRS official with a written statement that identifies the item, the amount and the controversy involved. The standard for the taxpayer’s position is now an objective one requiring substantial authority. Section 6662 also contains standards for tax shelters and positions taken based on professional advice.
