Amazon.com Review
Taxes for Dummies: 1998 Edition, by Eric Tyson and David J. Silverman, is another title in the bestselling Dummies series, in which Tyson has authored four other books. Accurate and reliable in its lighthearted presentation, Taxes for Dummies includes tax-planning tips that will help you save money beyond April 15. While the book is just right for the average taxpayer, it may lack for people wanting a more in-depth guide–such as those running a small business from home or those trying to figure out capital gains on a mutual fund.

Comments on Taxes For Dummies 2005
This is not "For Dummies." This is for experts. Too long, too hard written for "a guy in Western Iowa with a weird problem." Tax Survival Kit (only $ 5 +, not 11 $ + too) is a real "for Dummies" book . 100 odd pages, neat, clean, and a teamster like me can make cents out of it. If the book has a title such as "Taxes for accountants" I would say great. But it's false advertising to say it is "For Dummies." The authors have done a fabulous job, I think (as far as I can tell). Flying just under the colors wrong as it was in the army. Do not blame the authors, talk to the editor.

The latest edition of the TAXES FOR DUMMIES series (Eric Tyson and David J. Silverman, authors) continues in the vein of previous editions. He tries to explain all matters relating to taxes on personal income in the playful and light as possible, and whenever possible to avoid more technical prose manuals of the IRS and other similar Tax advice books. The 1997 changes the tax law are presented clearly and if possible, a humorous manner. CHARGES FOR DUMMIES, as its name implies, is designed for novice taxpayers and preparers. As such, it does not cover everything that its competitors do, but most should work. Even with the complexities of tax matters in question, it never fails to be entertaining and often hilarious.

I bought this book because I was using TaxCut Standard, which is not very useful sometimes, and I found myself on a particular form. This book helped me understand the individual 1040, using clearer language and bearing the official instructions of the IRS. Anyone detailing deductions, or could do in the future to find _sales_tax Dummies_ extremely useful. Moreover, throughout the book are tips for managing personal finances. Most of them are facing the highest source of income, but almost everyone can learn tips on home ownership and retirement savings. The opinion is healthy. I highly recommend this book as an aid for preparing taxes for a 2003 suit.

Easy to read, well organized and thoroughly helpful. I recommend "Taxes 2005 for Dummies" to people who want to prepare their own taxes, either by hand or by computer. Excellent advice and strategies for dealing with the IRS. Table of Contents lists each line tax form, which makes information easy to find. Provides instructions for the 1040EZ, 1040a and 1040. (Most books just cover the 1040.) Icons indicate saving tips tax and warnings to help avoid trouble. The writers have done an excellent job of turning IRS jargon into something we can actually understand. The only book that guides you step by step to deal with the IRS. If you received a letter from the IRS, this book will tell you what it means literally, and how to respond. The authors even provide sample letters for you to respond quickly. The exceptionally well-written advice for dealing with the IRS is worth the price of the whole book. Information on the recovery of tax records missing is superb. The authors provide excellent suggestions to support the basis of costs, professional fees and the fair market value. The book does not include tax forms, you'll need to find them elsewhere (library, post office, on the internet).
